Basic Infantry Training

Learn the fundamentals of combat, team roles, formations, and essential battlefield skills.

Team Members

The primary unit in this section is the Special Forces team, typically comprising 6 members, each with a specialized role:

  • Team Lead (TL)
Leads the team, decides formation, and has an under-barrel grenade launcher. The TL is the most experienced team member.
  • Automatic Rifleman
Carries the light machine gun with the most firepower and ammo for suppression.
  • Radio Operator
Operates the long-range radio, communicates with other teams and air support.
  • AT Specialist
Equipped with an unguided rocket launcher and two missiles.
  • Marksman
Uses a marksman rifle with long-range optics.
  • Saboteur
Primarily carries explosives and can deploy various mines.
  • Medic
Provides medical support, carries extensive medical supplies.

These members can be divided into 2-man buddy teams: Red (Team Lead + Medic), Blue (Radio Operator + Saboteur), and Gold (Automatic Rifleman + Marksman). These buddy teams facilitate maneuvers like bounding overwatch.

🛈

The Automatic Rifleman

The automatic rifleman wields a light machine gun, excelling in suppressive fire at medium to long ranges, especially effective when paired with a marksman. The high fire rate and large magazine make this role essential for area denial.

Weapon Resting
For accuracy, especially when standing or crouching, the rifleman should deploy the weapon to reduce recoil. This can be done by pressing C (recommended to rebind to ctrl + space).

The Saboteur

The saboteur specializes in deploying explosives, often carrying a satchel charge, demo charge, and an M6 SLAM. Specific explosives include:

  • M112 Demolition Block:
Small explosive, compatible with remote detonators M26 and M57.
  • M183 Demolition Charge:
Larger charge, effective for demolishing structures, also compatible with M26 and M57.
  • M18A1 Claymore:
Anti-personnel charge that releases steel balls in a 50m frontal radius.

Placing and Detonating: To place explosives, open the ACE Self-interaction menu, select "Explosives" -> "Place," then use the mouse to position the charge.

Formations and Sectors

Special Forces teams use three primary formations to enhance combat effectiveness:

  • Column Formation
Used in narrow or urban environments.
  • Wedge Formation:
Effective in open areas when contact with the enemy is likely.
  • Line Formation:
Best for assaulting positions or cresting hills.

Each member covers a specific sector (front, rear, left, right) relative to the direction of movement.

Communications

freedom-fighters utilizes the ACRE2 mod with TeamSpeak for in-game communication. Use direct speech for team coordination and hold Caps Lock to transmit over the radio.

The AN-PRC/343 radio has an 800m range, which can be accessed by CTRL + ALT + CAPS LOCK. Volume and channel adjustments are available, and you can direct audio to specific ears for clarity.

Medical Emergencies

The ACE 3 advanced medical system is used to simulate realistic medical scenarios. Wounds vary by type (velocity, laceration, puncture) and severity (small, medium, large). Tourniquets, morphine, and epinephrine are essential tools.

Self-Care: Use the self-interaction menu to apply field dressings to wounds. Use morphine to manage pain but beware of its effects on heart rate. Epinephrine can be used if heart rate drops too low.

Assisting Others: If a teammate is down, call it out, apply tourniquets as needed, and perform CPR if they remain unconscious.
